I have questions about my late 60s 7.5 H.P. Sears Ted williams Outboard motor?

Ive got a few questions here, answer any of them you wish to.
-Is todays unleaded gas ok to put through it?
-Ive heard that a 24:1 mixture is needed, correct?
-Ive heard to use 2 stroke chainsaw oil because its aircooled, good idea?
-How to use the choke and mixture knobs? What is a good mixture?
-Im putting it on a 12 foot flat bottom jon boat that weighs about 300 lbs. good idea?
-How fast will it go?

If you wanna tell me anything else about the motor tell me! Id like to know everythinhg about it.

It's a lawnmower motor. Many of the parts can be had from your mower guy. It has a water pump. The pump only runs when it is in gear- don't run out of the water.

Main jet is under the carb holding the float bowl on. It's sensitive. As mentioned- if it runs don't fix it.

The idle is the knob on the front , or a screw on the right side (looking from the back) of the carb near the nut that holds the carb one. If you run slow and it wants to get slower and quit, it's to rich. If it runs on choke and pops and quits it is to lean. Same with the main jet- though they didn't all have adjustable main jets.

Modern gas will run in it but may cause some fuel line deterioration and cause the needle to "stick" in the seat of the carb if you don't run it dry after every use.

Your hand will tingle after holding on to it all day.
