Where can I go creel fishing in Scotland?
I want to go creel fishing (with the cages for lobsters and crabs and such) but I don't know where I can and if I can hire everything, does anyone know anything about this. Also do I need a license to go on the boats?
No you do not need a licence unless you plan to sell them, if it just for personal use then you can creel fish to your hearts content. As long as it is not for fish but for crab and lobster, it comes under the fisheries act 1984.
you will not find anywhere to hire them but each pot(creel) costs a couple of pound and you will find them for sale second hand in the likes of the press and journal, oban times etc.
depending where you are I would recommend the west coast from oban down to southend on either side. there are plenty of places to get a mooring, just get in touch with one of the many marinas, there will also be private ones just get in touch with the estates.
