What modifications can I make to my boat?
I have a little 14ft Jon Boat that I picked up the other day. I've already repainted it, but I'm wondering what other things I can do to it.
Again, it's 14ft in length, and it's primary use is going to be for fishing. Other than repainting the outside, everything else is totally plain and standard.
One thing I personally had in mind was adding rod holders. However, the sides are very thin and therefore I have nothing to bold the holders to. How can I install them?

I installed two pairs of these BPS rod holders -- you can just bolt the bracket to the side of the boat at the top of the gunwale, they work great, the best value for the $$$ I could find, $16 for two.

As a kid I fished all over the state of Louisiana in a boat like that with a 6hp evinrude on the back. The quickest & easiest & cheapest thing you can do immediately to improve a day of fishing is get a couple folding stadium seats so you'll have a backrest. For more permanence and comfort, you can attach swivel bases and add better quality seating. They have brackets that slide across those bench seats, so you can adjust the position on the water if you want to.
A casting deck in the bow, 1/2" ply with a layer of fiberglass and a pedestal seat, foot control trolling motor, storage underneath.
Fishfinder. if you can afford color, go for it, but I think screen resolution is more important. IMO the best value is the Lowrance mark 5x at $160, 480x480 resolution on a 5" screen.
Outboard. 6 hp would be ok, 10 even better. 80's - 90's merc or johnnyrude.
