What's it like to live in Brazil these days?
My family background is tied to South America, and I often find myself longing to go back. But I've spent more than 30 years in Europe and English-speaking countries now, I'm totally out of touch.
I enjoyed living in Canada, the US, France, and now New Zealand. Life in those countries is well-organized, and people do well there. That wasn't always the case in South America. Would I like Brazil as it is now, what do you reckon? As a place of residence, I mean. I'm pretty confident I'd find work, even though, or maybe exactly because, my profession is highly specialized (I'm an industrial designer with a focus on boats and buses and trucks, and I build computer models of them, plenty of use for that in Brazil, I suppose). But is it actually possible for an outsider to merge into Brazilian life? Are there people here who've done that?
The best place for you to live in South America is Curitiba, for his your European profile.
It will be as if you was living at an European country. Me the times I upset myself when I am going to the South of Brazil exactly for that (I am from Rio de Janeiro) and using a Brazilian expression I am "spacious" or be for the southern patterns I am not a reserved person. I speak loudly, I laughed a lot the one that for the patterns Nordic of the southerner education lack. . If you speak German, Pole, or Italian you will feel in house, and them nor they will notice that you are foreign, it is easier they to notice a Carioca (who is born in Rio de Janeiro is Carioca) than an European among them. They have big factorys in the south and you would get a good placement in the job market, all will say that the best place for you to seek job is São Paulo, and it is the best equal place if it wins money, however to live in the 3rd larger city of the planet is not easy unless you have a helicopter and a point of private landing.
