How does a wing of an aircraft hold the weight of a jet engine?
I often wonder how does a wing of an aircraft hold a jet engine so big and so heavy without breaking up or bending. The wing seems to be very thin compare to the engine. How could it hold jet engine(s) much bigger and heavier than its size?
And does the engine obstruct the aerodynamic?
A wing mounted engine is attached to a pylon that is attached to the wing's main spar.
In most airplanes, the main spar is a strong metal piece that usually runs from wingtip to wing tip about halfway back from the leading edge of the wing.
The spar forms the backbone of the wing. It is designed to absorb the weight and thrust loads of the engine, and the landing gear is also attached to the main spar, which is strong enough to absorb those loads as well.

The interaction of the engine with the airflow around the wing can create serious problems, so engines are positioned on the wing using computer and wind tunnel tests to minimize their influence on the aerodynamics of the wing... Tail mounted engines solve that problem, but create others with their weight aft.

What is the smallest jet engine used today?
I'd like to know what the smallest jet engine that we use today is. Military or otherwise. No engines people built in their backyard.
There are several manufacturers producing gas turbine engines form two pounds wt and up with static thrust of 12 lbs and up. Most used in RC ans small UAV applications. They are not cheap though! Here are some links:

I’ll admit its pretty cool but I wouldn’t call that a jet engine. If anything a rocket driven version of a steam engine. jet engines are REALLY different from rocket engines
As a pilot, the normal natural progression is from simple (think single engine prop) to complex aircraft (multi-engine jet) and prospective employers will be looking for this natural progression in your logbook and resume. If you make a major step backwards for an extended period of time, it won’t be a deal breaker but they might ask why in the interview. If you are applying for a job flying a King Air, the employer will want to see that you have experience in similar complex multi-engine airplane.
