ebay buying a boat
best place on the web to buy a boat under $5000?
im am looking for a boat to buy that is under $5000 i want to buy it off the internet but i dont want to get scamed i do not want to use ebay or auto trader,also what is the safest way to pay someone for a boat without meating them in person?
I have had good luck with Ebay, as long as the boat is close and you can go pick it up, you can always back out if it has been misrepresented. I bought a boat sight unseen once, however I talked to the guy on the phone several times and used good judgment, and wrote down information from our convos to be sure he wasn't changing his story. Any hint of uneasiness and I would have backed out. Not saying it couldn't happen and I could have gotten scammed but due diligence is your best friend. Short of that, as stated craigslist and even driving around to marinas and marine shops, a lot of time they wont list there lower priced boats on their website, I picked up a freebe once just driving around asking what they had, it needed some work but its a great boat now and I have been using it for several years.
