repainting my boat...?
im repainting my 15' fiberglass boat. i thought about doing the inside with a truck bad liner since its non skid and doing it in silver so it (hopefully) wont be too hot, would this be a good idea? also what is a good paint to use for the hull? and do you prepare the surface to be painted just like a car? (sand, prime, paint, clear coat)

if you are happy with the look and durability of "truck bed liner" on your deck then it is not a problem to use it. here is a link to commercial boating use of this type of product (on tug boat decks).
regarding painting your hull, we restored several fiberglass boats as well as painting the wooden boats that we build and have had excellent results using rollers and tipping out the paint with a brush, with one and two part polyurethane paints. we use petit and interlux paint products. for compatibility suggest that you use solvents and thinners from the same co . the painting process is very simple, wash the hull with solvent to remove wax and any mold release on the hull. the next step is to wash the boat and then sand the hull. fill any imperfections scratches etc and fill with epoxy paste, sand the hull again, wipe down with solvent. apply one or two coats of under coat paint, then apply topcoats of paint. follow the directions for the specific paint that you are using, this may include sanding between coats.
