2007 Jeep Commander Trailer Tow Wiring Harness that require Dealer to activate?
The question is if I use the cheaper wiring package and would need to splice the wire...would I still have to have the dealer activate the system to work? Please see descripton below requiring Dealer to activate if I just joined the wire to the existing manfacturer plug.

An aftermarket wiring harness that you splice into the taillamp wiring would not require activation at the dealer, but they're often of low quality (and it can also wreak havoc with vehicle modules which are designed for specific voltages and resistances).
