Anecdotally, I know a guy who makes a living building furniture for yatchs, really fancy woodwork for these very expensive and custom-built boats. He said the economy hasn't changed anything, that he knows of, in the yatch-building business. I thought that was interesting, because I don't know why it would be true.
I don't know why trend stories never come up with trends that surprise me. Why is there never a trend story like, “hey, actually no one cares,” or, “look, everyone thinks we're all going to die, but actually we're smarter than we used to be and will soon build flying cars”?
Trend stories are bullshit. For one thing, trend stories are so mallable, like you said, they can be written to support anything. I personally had people tell me that the 9-11-2001 attacks caused camping at public parks to decrease (for fear of attacks) and increase (because patriotism = s'mores). Both sides used the exact same information, which was nothing.
The New York Times seems to do these really horrendous trends stories semi-regularly. Which makes me hate them, even though I want to like this paper. They recently had a horrible one — unfounded, unsupported and suspiciously supportive of what people expect to be true — about church attendance and the economy. Which makes me wonder, are there ever trend stories that aren't bullshit? Why do trend stories never seem to offer surprising statements, contradicting common knowledge? Why do we keep doing them? If we have to keep doing them, why aren't they at least interesting?
You should be able to find a "Spring" shop in your town. What they will need is either the spring itself, or all of the specs and weight capacity of the trailer, or all of the above. They will then custom make a new set of springs for you. It's best to replace both as a set rather than just replace a single spring.
Trying to find a new spring for a 40 year old trailer just isn't going to happen without any knowledge of where it came from or what it's off of.

The boats are USCG inspected and undergo strenuous stability tests. ” I have seen them almost turtle over with the smallest wake” – another idiotic statement. The boats have transited wakes and waves on the Hudson that would have swamped smaller vessels. They are practically unsinkable. I know as I have piloted them for two seasons. They may not be the prettiest boats on the river, but they are far more fun to run than anything else out there.
