crestliner aluminum boat
Double towing in the state of Michigan?
I want to tow my boat behind my fifth wheel, but need to know if I can pull it off. I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 3500 crew cab shorted dually 4x4 pickup, hauling a 2006 keystone Springdale 280RK fifth wheel and a 1984 18' Crestliner aluminum fishing boat. According to the Secretary of State in Michigan you can't exceed over 65' total. I went out and measured everything and my LOA was exactly 70 feet. So, my question is, can I just get away with towing an extra 5 feet?
Not if someone actually puts a tape measure to your rig. 65 feet means just exactly that. If you get stopped, you could be cited for being over-length, and that could cost big bucks in fines.
