Console fishing Boat
Outboard trim on nitro fishing boat not working?!?
Ok so i have a nitro bass boat with a 1999 mercury 150hp xr6 outboard on it. I went to test everything out the other day and I noticed that the trim button on the motor itself works to trim the motor up or down. However the trim button on my throttle lever, nor the trim buttons near my bow mount trolling motor work. I checked the fuse panel under the console, and didnt find any broken fuses. I also unplugged the two relays on the backside of the outboard to check for corrosion, and could not find any. Im running out of solutions, can anyone please help with what you think my problem may be, or help me with a way to trace down what my problem is?
The fact that both sets of controls are not working indicates to me a problem with engine wiring harness, not the remote control harness. There should be an inline fuse holder in the trim system wiring, either on the purple/white wire, or the blue wire. Check these first, and make sure the contacts in the fuse holder are clean. If the problem persists, you will have test for continuity each wire in the system from terminal to terminal. This will be time consuming, but should isolate the problem.
