You are right on S_M_C! While fishing from a boat adds endless possibilities to the fishing game, most boaters you see are casting TOWARDS the shoreline!

My biggest bass ever was caught (and released)while bank fishing with a 3/4 oz spinnerbait slow-rolled along the bottom of a creek channel. A true trophy 16.2 lb Florida strain implanted into a small sized Texas impoundment that receives very little fishing pressure. That was in June 2001. If that fish is still alive it could be pretty big by now. I'd like to go catch her again!

I had a similar problem with my 79 Yamaha xs1100. It took me a year to figure it out, and it is not the carbs, but it may be. I had a leaky petcock and was causing an overflow of gasoline to get into the carbs and flood the engine. There are 2 diagnostics for this problem. 1) unscrew your oil cap and dab your finger with the motor oil. If it smells like gas, this is the case. 2) unplug the fuel line from the petcock. It it sits there leaking gas drip by drip, this is also the case.

It it is the carbs, my first guess is the diaphragm has a crack in it. This is the rubber cap on top of the carb after you unscrew the screws on the plate directly on top. Check it thoroughly. Secondly, it could be a clogged jet. Start with the simplest! Good luck!
