cobalt boats
Im buying a Cobalt 282 boat. Considering twin engines but will it be too slow out of the hole? Is 1 better?
I want a quick, nimble boat that is great pulling skiiers, but large enough to handle rougher waters. Cobalt 282 comes in single engine options up to 425 HP or I could go with twin engines. My concern is a single would be too slow, but twins would cause the boat to be back-end heavy and thus very slow out of the hole and onto plane. So, I'm looking for the best engine (s) option. Any Cobalt 282 owners have any advise? Thank you!
A twin engine setup with V8 small blocks and alpha drives will weigh 500 to 600 pounds more than a single big block with a bravo drive. Twin V6 with alpha would be 400-500 pounds more.
If you are using inboards the difference is even less
I doubt this would lower the boat into the water more than 1 to 2 inches.
Twin V6's might preform about the same as a single 425HP
Twin 305 or 350 will make some improvements
Tabs will also lift the boat onto plane faster. Unless I change the prop on my Checkmate it won't plane without the tabs down.

Class warfare exists not because some rich guy is taking advantage of the working class, it exists because a handful of the members of the working class lack the desire to try to rise above the working class as allowed by the capitalist system. These disgruntled cowards would rather cry victimhood and attempt to convince the rest of the world that they are all victims, too.
When a person accepts a job, he or she knows what she will make, what raises and benefits will be included and when those benefits will be payed.
For those that chose not to be employeed by someone else, that are willing to take the risk of self-employment, there is another option. These people can hire others, and often do. there are risks with beginning your own business. David Green began Hobby Lobby Stores, he went broke 7 or 8 times. He kept trying, never whined or blamed the “evil rich.” Today he is very successful, and those that work for him, while they don't make as much as he does, don't believe that he is taking advantage of them.
Cobalt Boats, Inc was started in a garage in Neodesha, Ks. The two men that started that company just wanted to build themselves a couple of boats. Their neighbors saw the boats, liked the boats and wanted to buy boats from the same people. Cobalt Boats grew from a two man operation in someone's garage to a small business with more than 100 satisfied employees, none of whom would say they are victims of class warfare.
If you choose not to participate in the capitalist system, you have that choice. You can purchase a peice of property, build your own home, raise your own crops, raise your own livestock, mine your own minerals, and become self-sufficient. There aren't enough hours in the day, but you can do it, people did it before.
Or you can continue whining like a spoiled child because you didn't get the handouts that you want from those in society who worked a little harder, worked a little smarter, and were a little more successful.
