Should I be nervous buying a boat with a 1985 Mercury engine?
It is 1985 Mercury 2-stroke 75 hp 75 ELPT series engine.
How is reliability? I don't want to buy a boat and have to replace the engine right away.
Its not the age, its the hours. Do you know how many hours the engine has? If it was maintained and has low hours you could be getting a great deal. If it was abused it doesn't matter if its a 1985 or a 2005, it could be a disaster. get a compression check and a survey of the engine to get a better handle on it.

wd40 wont damage the gel or anything right? cuz it looks like its harsh
listen you need car wash and a little elbow grease the car wash you can get anywhere . i would NOT use wd40 its not a cleaner

You see it your way I see it my way…Yelling at his subordinates is really profanity laced tirade=conduct unbecoming a police officer=firable offense. Misspent the grant money = stealing =firable offense. Buying boat parts from family members = conflict of interest=broken law=firable offense. I guess there are many different ways of looking at an issue but a broken law is a broken law which deserves punishment otherwise why even make a law??
