Will an I/O produce more power than a jet motor with the same amount of horsepower?
I have a jet ski with 155 hp and am looking to get an I/O bow rider and want to have enough power to pull me up on a wakeboard and I weigh about 240 lbs and the jet ski struggles so I want to know if a 4.3 liter with 190 hp will get the job done with more ease. Thank you for your time.
It will, a prop is more efficient then a jet, the engine has more hp (190 vs 155) and has much more torque then the 155.

When i hooked up the water to the ski it wouldn't start played with it for a few hours then ended taking it back over to the previous owner. He removed the sparkplugs and found all cylinders filled with water. So currently we are blowing the water out little at a time. He says the only way we can think of is that i had the bow of the trailer on the ground and the water backed up into the motor. Does this sound right or what? and how can i get the water out of the cylinder quicker?
I have tested each cylinder and each has about 100 #
The trailer position didn't have anything to do with it. You are not supposed to hook up water to it and turn on the hose. The engine (cylinders and cranckcase) will fill up with water!
You have to have a ball valve on the hose line, crank the ski THEN throttle the valve to cool it. That has a water cooled exhaust system as well as the motor. There is a direct passage from the exhaust into the combustion chambers. While running, exhaust keeps the water from entering the cylinders. When not running, all you do is mess things up! Live and learn!
I am not sure if that ski has a crankcase drain, most do. it will be a cable that runs under the motor. Try and find that so you can drain any water that has gotten below the cylinders. Then put the ski in the water to test it. That is the safest way, more fun also.
