Mac From It’s Always SunnyLOST hasn’t shied away from bigger name guest stars over the course of it’s run, but none threw us for a loop more than It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Mac showing up as pissed off Other Aldo. Sure it took us out of the action, but we’ll miss bizarre casting like this.42. The VanIf that Van hadn’t come back into play as a battering ram driven by Hurley (and then later as the vehicle of choice for the DHARMA Initiative), we would have kicked someone – but it did, so we’re all good. You and me, van. You and me.41. DHARMA BeerYou can’t watch an episode a can of skunky old DHARMA Beer shows up in, and not hanker for a swig yourself – sand and all.40. LostpediaWhat will we do without Lostpedia, checking for theories and crazy coincidences every week? What will Lostpedia do without us? All we know is, for a while this was our weekly go to resource on the internet for all things LOST (other than UGO, of course).39. The NumbersWhat do the numbers mean? What do they mean??? Well, not a whole lot, actually – but just try and hear 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, or 42 and not recite the sequence by heart. There ya go.38. The HatchIf you weren’t already sold on LOST? The opening of the hatch at the end of the first season? Yeah. All Summer. You know what I mean.37. Fake Tina FeyYeah, yeah, we know her name is Zoe. But she’ll always be Fake Tina Fey in our hearts. She came in the sixth season, but kept making us check our DVR’s to see if we were actually watching 30 Rock.36. Penny WidmoreOh, Penny. You are one half of our favorite couple on the show – and part of some of the best moments, from the first post-crash scene outside the island, to Charlie’s tragic death. Always good, always pure, Penny is our constant.35. DesmondCan we just say we’re a Desmond fan all the way? From his time-spanning devotion to Penny, to the way he, unlike nearly any other character on the show actually gets to be the hero, Desmond is the Scot with the most. Brudda.34. DriveshaftHey, have you heard Driveshaft’s hit single “(You All) Everybody”? Man, it’s really good, huh? Too bad about Charlie Pace, hope he’s still alive like they say…33. Greg GrunbergHey, remember how J.J. Abrams childhood buddy Greg Grunberg played the quickly eaten pilot in the, er, pilot? Given how fun Grunberg always is, we wish we could have spent a little more time with him. Ah well.32. Nikki & PauloIt’s not that we’re going to miss the worst characters in the history of LOST. It’s that we’re going to miss not missing them – or at least making fun of them non-stop. If it’s the low points that show you exactly how high the high points of a show are, there is no lower point in LOST than Nikki and Paulo. They couldn’t die quickly enough.31. Eloise HawkingShe started as a simple ring seller, and became integrally related to almost every character on the show. Faraday’s Mom, Widmore’s wife, and Desmond’s spiritual guide and tormentor, Ellie skirted the line between good and evil.30. Charles WidmoreThe enigmatic Other made Desmond travel around the world, tried to kill everyone on the island, and met his own untimely end. But he’ll always be the father from The O.C. to us.29. Apollo BarsLOST has plenty of fake products, but one of our faves is Apollo Bars. They first showed up as the only non-DHARMA rations, then as THE MOST SYMBOLIC CANDY BAR OF ALL TIME, handed by Jacob to Jack, and the Jack to Claire. Also, I bet they’re delicious.28. Christian ShephardFar be it from LOST to not use a name fraught with meaning, but “Christian” “Shephard” almost takes it too far. Except the biggest Daddy on Daddy issues island never fails to make an impression, whether he’s disappearing from his coffin, or making Jack quake in his boots.27. The Donkey WheelWhy is it called The Donkey Wheel? Why is it a wheel? How does it work? Who cares? Once again, just when you thought LOST had run out of crazy moments, Ben heads down to an icy cave, turns a crazy wheel to move the island, and ends up in Tunisia. Naturally.26. The Polar BearEven if you’ve never watched LOST – and why haven’t you? – you know about the polar bear that inexplicably showed up on a tropical island. Even after the bear was explained – sorta – it still remains one of the more fun and surprising elements of the show.25. The MysteriesSure, there’s going to be plenty of stuff about LOST we’ll debate for years to come, but for six seasons, the shocking twists, and unexplainable “What the f**k was that?” led to more heated discussion than any show – possibly ever.24. The Four Toed StatueIt was just one of those things that, after a certain point, everyone thought they’d never return to. But then it turned out to be Jacob’s house. And it was destroyed by the Black Rock. And just in general, the four toed statue was one of those LOST mysteries that actually got crazier the more you learned about it. Hooray for Taweret!23. Sawyer’s AbsOh no! Is there a fire? Time to put it out with Sawyer’s shirt! Need to go swimming? Time to take Sawyer’s shirt off! Is there an abs contest going on? Looks like Sawyer’s gonna win. Any excuse to get his shirt off, dudes. Any excuse.22. FrogurtPoor little red shirt. Neil “Frogurt” managed to survive pretty much every attack on our heroes, as well as constant teasing from Sawyer and everyone else, until he was finally felled by a flaming arrow. And all we knew about him was that he ad asthma, and sold frozen yogurt. Poor guy.21. The OthersNo, not the other Others. The Others. You know. Though we thought, at first, they were the bad guys, they kept assuring us that everything they did, from kidnapping children, to torturing and killing our heroes was all for their own good. And maybe it was? We’re still not 100% sure.20. The DHARMA InitiativeOne of the most intriguing elements of the show was finding out more about the DHARMA Initiative, the structures they’ve built all over the Island… And learning that they were just as much interlopers as the passengers of flight 815.19. Daniel FaradayJeremy Davies mad scientist came into the game late, and left early, but quickly became one of the best characters on the show – and a crucial part of the time traveling mythology.18. CharlieHeroin snorting, Driveshaft singing, Claire loving Charlie may have only been on the show in order to die – but both of his death scenes are the most seminal in the history of the show. Never forgot that it was, “Not Penny’s Boat.”17. Mr. EkoIf it wasn’t for his DUI, Mr. Eko might have gotten to finish that church. Which is too bad, because one of the best presences on the show never got to finish his story, due to a bad attitude. And that’s what makes entertainment different than real life! Or maybe not.16. RousseauThe crazy French lady in the woods, even more than the weird monster, or the Polar Bears, was the first indication that something was very, very wrong on this Island. And though Rousseau may be long gone, we still hear her reciting the numbers sometimes when we close our eyes.15. AaronHey, guess what, kid? You aren’t important! At all! Except to your two moms, Kate and Claire – and a viewing public who invested years of watching into a fake psychic’s prophecy. Sigh.14. ClaireCrazy old Claire, living in a shack, talking to smoke monsters, and making skeleton babies. We didn’t know we missed you until you came back – and now we’re going to miss you all over again.13. Richard AlpertDear Nestor Carbonell: thank you for introducing the word “guyliner” into our lexicon. Also for managing to making Richard so interesting to watch, we’ve almost forgotten you played Batmanuel on The Tick. Not quite, though.12. BenThe little rat faced liar went from being a minor character, to the surprise breakout villain of the show – yet we still feel for the scamp enough that when he squeaked, “Nobody wants me,” our heart went out to the little guy. Michael Emerson was the true surprise of a show full of surprises.11. JacobFrom the moment we first heard his name, we wanted to know more about Jacob. And then once we met him, we still wanted to know more. And we’re still waiting. But Jacob, as an enigmatic god figure, never failed to command a scene, and drive the narrative.10. SmokeyCal him Smokey, Smoke Monster, The Man in Black, or Smocke – he started as a mysterious force in the forest, and became the overarching villain for the show – or was he a villain at all. Regardless, the pillar of clacking smoke has been with us since the beginning, and remains one of the most intriguing, infuriating, and discussed pieces of LOST mythology.9. Rose & BernardThe best recurring couple on the island, we’re glad the duo get a happy ending. We didn’t know we were so into their story until we cried when they reunited. There’s been no looking back since.8. VincentWho doesn’t love a good doggie? And Vincent is a very good dog. Wouldn’t it be great if it turned out he was the source of the Island’s power the whole time? Sequel!7. The KwonsJin and Sun are inseparable in the minds of fans, and even Island uber-God Jacob – though more often than not, they were separated by language, emotions, and even time itself.6. HurleyFor six seasons, Hurley was us – the voice of the fan, asking the questions we would ask, doing the things we would do – you know, like talking to ghosts?5. SayidAka, the Most Gentle Torturer, Sayid may have lost more true loves than most of us will have in a lifetime.4. LockeWe were always rooting for Locke, even as his backstory – and his, I don’t know, frontstory just got sadder and more pitiful. Played to the hilt by Terry O’Quinn, Locke may have started out and ended as “evil,” but in between he was one of the most uniquely sad and lonely characters ever created – and we love him for it.3. SawyerHas any character in television history grown and deepened more than James Ford, while simultaneously looking totally awesome in cobbled together ladies glasses? We think not.2. JackCan you imagine if Jack was played by Michael Keaton, as planned – and killed off in the first episode? Thank our lucky stars that Matthew Fox got the role – and that Jack is still around six seasons later to (sort of) save the day.1. New Episodes of LOSTFor six seasons, LOST was the highlight of our week. In a TV atmosphere that supports predictability, and plots wrapped up neatly in an hour, LOST went in the other direction, while smartly keeping everything grounded in the characters. Consistently reinventing itself, and changing the format of TV (look at the number of shows now on that try to ape the LOST format – and fail), there’s never been another show like LOST, and there never will. We’re glad it’s ending at the top of its game, but we’re sad we won’t have new episodes to debate anymore – or enjoy. By Kate, Jack, Sawyer, and everyone else – we watched you together, and now we’ll watch you alone. Hm. That may not make sense. Anyway, LOST was pretty good, is my point. So. Area 51 is really weird, not because of aliens or UFOs, but because of the drawings nearby, like a bird and stuff like it.

The Nazca Lines also are an awesome place to visit in Google Earth, but they aren't very clear…

Haven’t posted before, but am now very interested because I find myself in a similar boat. 17 years and 35 pounds later, and never thinking it would happen to me, I am heading for divorce after a long self-destructive period. Will keep reading…
