I'm really confused about the angles, how do we find the angles in the triangle.. because i think we need to in order to find the length that the question is asking for
You do need the angle between the two ships. You can find this angle simply by subtracting 165 from 280. This gives 115 degrees.
So we have a triangle with an angle of 115 degrees and the two sides that bound that angle are 20Km and 26Km. We are asked for the third side. So we now have side-angle-side.
The law of cosines can now solve the problem:
c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab cos(theta)
c^2 = 20^2 + 26^2 - 2 * 20 * 26 * cos(115)
c=sqrt(400 + 676 - 1040 *-.4226)
c=sqrt(400+676+440)
c = sqrt(1516)
c=38.9Km

Oddly enough my interests match up best with white and asian men. Engineering, Hitchhiker’s, the Bay, boats and Asian food, I’m there. And I’m a white woman.
It’s great. Even in bad weather, riding gives you this perspective that lets you appreciate your surroundings so much. Your photo is pretty great though, I can see exactly why you’d love it. Beautiful stuff. I like to take a route around the island I live on that includes a tiny ferry across a really nice bay. Boats and bikes… I can’t think of anything better. Anyway, one of my [trip on that route reminds me a bit of your photo.
Activists should try and blockade the entire bay with boats throughout the killing season. The whalers would not be able to fill the bay with dolphins or pilot whales. This would be the marine equivalent of tree sitters with the boats stockpiled to live on board for months at a time.
I wonder what would happen if someone scuttled and sank an old freight ship at the harbor entrance to create a new reef eco-system. Instead of scrap metal for India an old sunken freighter sticking half way out of the bay's water would be a tourist draw. Ha Ha.
