Information about Atlantis?
I have a travel agent and I'm traveling t Atlantis this february and I want to ask as many questions as possible but I need to know what to ask. Any Ideas for questions ? BESIDES THE PRICES FOR EVERYTHING I also need to know about the comfort inn suits across the street from Atlantis because I'm staying there. What is the pool like, the rooms, the interior, the walk to Atlantis, EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I want to know ALL ABOUT THE CLUBS IN ATLANTIS!!!!!!!

First of all, you don't really need a travel agent. I got much better prices and flights doing it myself- go for a non-stop flight...so much easier and best if you do not check a bag. Have all your proper documentation, passport, DL, etc.
The Comfort Suites is fine- nothing fancy but unlike the Atlantis, they give you free breakfast. Ask for a room in the newer wing. You still get to use all the facilities of the Atlantis- the rooms are even bigger in the CS than standard at the Atlantis. You still get to use the same beaches except the Cove. I was surprised how uncrowded the beach was.
Manage your expectations- about half the people in PI are nice enough and half are NOT- not sure why this is but it was very noticeable and a little disappointing.
There is a quiznos and a mini market nearby the Comfort Suites that has groceries and things you need- cheaper than the gift shop in the atlantis. Everything is pricey but what do you expect?
The buffet in the atlantis is great.
The pool at the CS is not worth much- like a big bathtub but thats ok. It was clean and they offer free scuba lessons. You can walk across the street and use any of the great pools at the Atlantis for free with your room key as id.
The walk to Atlantis is closer than if you stay in certain wings of the Atlantis itself. It was literally a 3 minute walk for us.
Didn't check out many clubs but I hear they are great. The fish tank is awesome!
TIP:
Plan out your trip otherwise you will leave without having done much. Book snorkeling via Stuarts Cove. PowerBoat Adventures can take you down to the Exuma islands in a powerboat and feed sharks. You can rent scooters nearby- lots to do but plan it out with a check list.
Be very, very careful of the sun. Use LOTS of sunblock- reapply after the water. If you sit in the lazy river, get out every 10 minutes and re-apply. Bring light but long sleeves and pants- trust me. The sun is soooooo strong you will burn just walking down the street- it is that bad and can absolutely ruin your trip. Always wear a hat- you will burn your head and get sun poisoning where you just feel sick all the time. Bring a big old wide brimmed round hat, sun glasses AND some type of cloth that can cover the back of your neck when you wear the hat.
Wear a t shirt when snorkeling. The sun will KILL your back and legs. You will be having soo much fun you will forget that your back and legs are exposed- you'll regret it later.
No shiny jewelry in the water but do bring bread- the fish go nuts for it- lots of fun feeding them- anywhere you will swim with fish. FYI- even the lagoon on the property feels safer but it does lead directly out and in from the ocean. The fish do get a bit aggressive and they are not even a little afraid of you. Didn't see many big ones except the sharks but they were not where we where swimming but you see them all the time. The fish tank extends to the outside- its really cool.
Bring your own snorkel and fins otherwise its $15 to rent daily and I wouldn't use that 2nd hand if you know what I mean.
The water taxi/boat is near the bridge $4 will take you to the STRAW MARKET. It is worth checking out.
There is a row of local food places where you can get good local food. If you come back over the bridge into nassau, make a right and go down by Goodmans bay (locals beach) about 10 minutes away. Its called the Fish Fry- you can drive the scooter there but if you do, be aware of an area called Over the Hill- the other half of the island- you don't want to end up there. Crime in the Bahamas is on the rise and you have to be especially careful as a tourist and be extra careful if you cross over the big bridge back into Nassau at night. We did on foot and came right back- it was not safe at all. There is plenty to do at the Atlantis anyway.
In summary- the Comfort Suites is the smart choice and its fine. The Atlantis is awesome and you are going to have soooooooooooooooo much fun. Just make a plan so you know what you are doing everyday and be prepared for that sun. Bring lots of money and don't over do it the first day!
