Where can I weigh my boat?
I need to find out how much my trailer and boat weighs in order to get it registered. I live in Metro Detroit, Michigan. It is a 14' aluminum boat on a trailer. Where can I go to get it weighed so that i can get it registered and out on the water this weekend.
that doesnt sound right to me you have to weight the boat motor and trailer to reg it something is not right

I need a price on a boat and motor?
My elderly father is disabled and wants to sell his boat and motor. I klnow the boat is a 15' 1986 Fisher and it has an Evinrude 25hp outboard motor, approx 1986 also. It is on an aluminum trailer. I dont know ANYthing about this sort of thing. I live in South Georgia What would be a good asking price?
"Condition" is the key to anything you sell.
Here's some tips for selling your boat:
Try to find out what model Fisher you are selling. Most important- Is the boat "Riveted" or "Welded". Welded boats generally sell for more.
Closely look at the trailer. If it's rusted, pitted, and looks "shoddy" think about doing some light sanding to take off as much rust/corrosion as possible then spray painting it black with a good aerosol-type spray paint.
Another good idea is to take it to a marine shop/boat shop and get the bearings "re-packed". Having the bearings repacked, (or replaced) is a good selling point you can advertise.
Take the cover off the motor and check how clean the interior is. Is there oil leaking everywhere? Corrosion? Rust?
The cleaner the interior of the motor the more money you will get for the whole pkg.
In fact, you should thoroughly clean the hull and interior of the boat.
The cleaner it is the more apt people are to purchase it. (If you were selling your car, you would clean it as best as possible!)
The motor (if in excellent running condition) would sell for around $1200-$1500. If in poor condition, as little as $250-$500.
The trailer and hull (without a motor) would sell (in X-cellent condition) for $900-$1000. ($1200 if Welded and in excellent condition!)
So, depending on condition, your 15' Fisher/25 Evinrude would probably sell for anywhere between $800-$2100. (If overall in "immaculate" condition- $2500-$2800)
Unfortunately, the economy is so depressed that selling anything (and making a small profit) is going to be tough.

Something that's easy to carry around and set up is a folding boat. You can carry them in almost any vehicle and even add a small motor. Check the link below to see what I mean. Cost is reasonable too.
