aluminum boat manufacture
Installing a trailer hitch on a 97 Cutlass Supreme 2dr anyone have suggestions or comments on wiring or types?
I will be hauling a 14 foot aluminum boat not real heavy, but I do not know where to start for a manufacture of a hitch or wiring system I need to use. If anyone has installed a similar application some input would be great. Thank you
A parts store can sell you everything you need including an instruction book on installation of trailer hitches. If you have no knowledge of how to do this, then it would be wise to have someone do this that has done it before. Make sure the hitch is rated to handle the load plus all the stuff you will load into the boat. If your hitch is bolted on, it will not handle much weight. The bumper is no place to attach the hitch. Don't assume the bumper is attached well enough to handle the load. Another issue is the height of the hitch. Make sure it is attached in a fashion that has the trailer level. As for the wiring; you will need a test light, and a multi-meter to hook it up. One GOOD source for how to do this is the library. There are many books on this subject, and maybe even a book on your particular vehicle. Your vehicle owners manual has a section on towing in it. Good Luck!

A ranger is always going to be more stable, after all you are looking at 3x the money and likely twice the weight. The 175 is about as stable and wide as you can get in aluminum, particularly in that price range.
