21 aluminum boat
260 hp 20 foot fiberglass boat, i have an aluminum 19 pitch on it now, what pitch should i get for speed?
should i keep the same pitch? or would a 21 help? i can pull water skiers on it now but it is tough because the boat is a 1983 and the engine is a little "tired". would a 21 stainless steel help?
General rule, each inch of pitch will reduce your top end RPMs by 150 to 200, because it puts a bigger load on the engine.
Think of prop pitch as gears on your truck. A lower pitch prop will get you more torque, at a cost of top end speed. And vice versa.
There are other prop characteristics, (diameter and cup, for example) that affect speed and hole shot -- a good prop man can help you dial in your optimal setup.

One wonders if temporary repairs means “duct tape”. Seems odd that Rachel Marie would need hull repairs so soon after the last ones. I seem to recall that the corrosion of aluminum boat hulls in salt water means these boats are nearing the end of their service life…
