1991 yamaha waverunner
I have a 1991 Yamaha Waverunner 3 that fires initially when I start it but then dies. How do I fix this proble?
The waverunner had recently been having idling trouble when I had it out and would shut off if you did not have the throttle at least a little open. I tried working on it yesterday and after a while of trying to start it, eventually it even stopped firing at all.
Any suggestions on this problem would be much appreciated.
I don't know that engine particularly, but in my experience, with carbed 2-strokes, this kind of behavior is usually the result of worn or misadjusted carb floats, fuel leaks past and floods the motor. Opening the throttle for a warm start is a clue. Carb rebuild with new kits inevitably fixes it
If you just rebuilt the carbs, go back and check your float heights and slow speed mixture needles, then recheck the throttle/spark timing syncronization.
