16 aluminum boat
My situation... Please help!?
Okay, so basically, i have a 12ft Aluminum boat, and the motor has croaked on me, it's a ... not sure how many HP it is, but it's a johnson motor, so you know it's already dodgy, but i don't know what's wrong with it, my dad already payed $500 to get it fixed, but that didn't work.
and I've been looking at buying a new one, since I'm only 16, i can't have higher then 6HP, so my questions are:
1. How would a 6HP handle a 12ft Aluminum 'tinny'?
2. What should i do with my johnson motor?
3. Should i just sell my Boat and Motor, and get a second hand one?
4. What's a trolling motor?

6 hp ob will push your 12 ft. boat just fine if it is a wide boat like Valco or Smoker Craft. If it is a narrow 12 ft like Lone Star or Sears, it may be too much motor.
Try trading your Johnson in on the new motor.
If your boat is in good shape, why spend money you don't have to.
A 6 hp. motor is a trolling motor. Any motor small enough to allow you to fish behind the boat while it is moving is a trolling motor. Some are electric, some are gas

it is a 16' long 5'6" wide 2'6" tall aluminum SUN TRACKER year 1995. it needs no body work all i need is a ball park figure of how much it will costfor a quality paint job. Thanks!
I would recommend you stay away from anyone charging less than $500 as you want a quality job. In painting cars or boats the preparation is most important. (sanding etc) or it will soon start to peel.
